The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is giving incentive payments to eligible professionals and hospitals that demonstrate meaningful use of certified electronic health record (EHR) technology.

Incentive payments include:

• Up to $44,000 for eligible professionals in the Medicare EHR Incentive Program
• Up to $63,750 for eligible professionals in the Medicaid EHR Incentive Program

To maximize the Medicare EHR incentive payments professionals need to begin participating in the years 2011 or 2012.
